Location, Location, Location

The Covid-19 restrictions meant the space which the model could be constructed was uncertain for a large part of the designing. While the design studio finally became it’s initial home, the model’s final resting place still remains uncertain. Due to this uncertainty the model was redesigned to fit in many locations. This meant reducing it’s size to make it easier to transport, including designing it to be constructed in three parts which could fit through the standard Linenhall doors.

As a result of the size reduction, the cladding system required a change as the vertical pieces were no longer parallel.

It also meant the cavity between it and the surrounding walls became less important as a service space and opened this outer structure to other opportunities, such as storage as illustrated left.
